Visit to Montacute House

In October, our class went to Montacute House to look round the house and also to study the Tudor portraits for our work in art & history.
We had a guided tour of the house, including the kitchens, which are not normally open to the public. We were told about the lives of the rich owners and how hard life was for their servants.
We finished the morning with a Portraits & fabrics workshop in the long gallery at the top of the house.
After lunch, we found the ice house in the grounds, then returned to the long
gallery to sketch the Tudor portraits. We also had time to really study the artwork. At the end of the visit, we spent some time in the grounds, sketching parts of the house and gardens. We had our photo taken by the pond and fountain.
