Report to parents 2004/05

Letter from the Chair of Governors
Dear Parents,

At this point for almost eight years, you have received a letter from me as the Chair of the
Governing Body encouraging you to come to the Annual Report to Parents Meeting.
Now, suddenly, I am no longer the Chairman, and DfeS haye decreed that the Annual Meeting need not take place! Now you just have to read the book!
The year of the Report covers my final year as Chairman, so it is an appropriate place to thank the many parents that I have good support from over the years. I hope to still see many of you about the village and elsewhere.
I have also had great help from many Governors and members of Staff. Thank you to them all for their courtesy, kindness and assistance.
The task of the Chairman is influenced greatly by the help of the Headteacher and the Clerk to the Governing Body. I have been most fortunate in overlapping completely with Mrs. Ferguson and Mrs. Cunningham and they have both been very willing and helpful and eased my job immensely.
My thanks to you all connected with St. Mary and St. Peter's and my very best wishes for the continued success of the School and its Pupils.

Yours sincerely,

DAVID WATSON.

Letter from the new chair of governors
Dear Parents,

I am pleased to be able to invite you to read the "Report to Parents" for the School year, 2004-5. As I have only recently taken over as Chair of Governors, I have had little to do with the preparation and it seems that with the DFES changes that are currently taking place it won't need to be done next year, so I seem to have timed that well!

I would like however to use the opportunity that this foreword presents to underline the debt of thanks that we as a school community owe to David Watson for his time as Chair of Governors. He has worked on our behalf from the time that the two sites were brought together into one school, and it has not always been an easy task. We wish him well in his retirement.

Since there will be no report to Parents next year it seems that this might also be a good opportunity to register our thanks to Mrs Ferguson who will leave us at the end of the current year, and wish her well also in her retirement. The bulk of the work of producing this report has fallen to her so we thank her additionally for that. We are in a good position now to go forward, looking for her replacement. We will be lucky indeed, if we find someone as dedicated and hardworking to take her place.

Yours sincerely,
Caroline Ireland-Jones

Message fro the Headteacher
Dear Parents,
Governors' AnnuaLReport to parents 2004/2005
We hope that you enjoy reading the annual report for the school year 2004/2005. It is always interesting to recap on the many events that take place during the school year, some events occur once in the life of the school but others happen each year and form the traditions of the school of which we are all so proud.
Our thanks should go to the many children and people who help to make our school so special. I would like to thank all of the children for working so hard and being a pleasure to teach, all of the staff for their unstinting work and loyalty, the parents for helping in so many ways and the governors for giving up so much of their time to support the school. Everyone's efforts are truly appreciated. Thank you.
This year the annual report to parents' meeting does not have to take place. The "powers that be" have decided that, as so few parents nationwide attended these meetings, it is not a worthwhile use of staff and governors' time. However, this year, if a proportion of parents request that a meeting is held, one can take place. If you wish to discuss the contents of this report with governors please inform Mrs. Cunningham, the clerk to the governors. The meeting, if convened, would take place on Wednesday 23rd November at 7.30pm on the Ilton base. Back to top
